Group Therapy Sessions

Where children find their people

Social skills and connection in a safe, fun group—led by expert therapists and designed so every child feels seen, heard, and included.

Understanding Group Therapy

In our group sessions, children find a community of peers who understand them. We focus on social-emotional learning, play, and real connection—not performance.

Groups are carefully matched so that each child can participate at their level and feel safe. Our therapists guide activities, teach social skills in the moment, and make sure everyone is included. We don\'t force eye contact or scripted small talk—we build on each child\'s strengths and interests.

Sessions are designed to be fun. Through games, creative projects, and collaborative play, children practise turn-taking, conversation, and friendship in a setting where being different is normal. The goal is belonging, confidence, and skills that last beyond the group.

Children in group therapy

Our Social Group Therapy Program

Our Social Group Therapy program provides structured, evidence-based sessions designed to enhance children's social communication, emotional, interaction, and collaboration skills.

Through guided activities, role-play, and peer interactions, children develop essential skills such as conversation, turn-taking, active listening, problem-solving, and effective communication in a safe and supportive environment.

By participating in group therapy, children build confidence, strengthen relationships, and gain practical skills that support success at home, school, and in the community.

Who can benefit from social group therapy

  • Difficulty playing or participating in group activities
  • Trouble making friends or forming relationships
  • Difficulty understanding nonverbal communication, like gestures and facial expressions
  • Challenges controlling impulses or emotions
  • Problems taking turns or sharing with others
  • Difficulty paying attention in group settings

How Group Therapy Helps Your Child

Connection with peers, stronger social skills, and the confidence to be themselves—in the group and beyond.

A community of peers who get it

Children meet others who think and feel in similar ways. In a carefully facilitated space, they build friendships and realise they're not alone—without having to mask or perform.

Social skills in a real-world setting

Groups practise turn-taking, conversation, collaboration, and conflict resolution in a safe environment. Skills learned here transfer to school, home, and the playground.

Confidence and self-esteem

Being accepted by peers and succeeding in group activities boosts confidence. Children often leave sessions feeling more willing to try new social situations.

Fun, connection, and belonging

Sessions are designed to be engaging and joyful—games, creative activities, and shared projects. Connection and play are at the heart of what we do.

How We Work Together

From matching your child to a group to ongoing sessions and feedback—we keep you in the loop every step of the way.

01

Getting to know your child and the group

We learn about your child's interests, social goals, and what they find easy or hard. We then match them to a small group of peers so everyone can thrive. You'll know the plan before sessions start.

02

Structured yet flexible group sessions

Each session has a mix of activities—games, discussion, creative projects—led by our therapists. We scaffold social skills while keeping the mood light and inclusive. No one is put on the spot.

03

Feedback and growth over time

We check in with you regularly about how your child is doing and what we're working on. Groups run in blocks so there's a clear rhythm and chance to see progress.

Signs of Progress

Social growth shows up in different ways. Here are some of the positive changes families often notice as group therapy continues.

More willingness to join in group activities and try new things

Improved turn-taking, listening, and sharing with peers

New or stronger friendships and a sense of belonging

Better confidence in social situations outside the group

More positive feelings about school and social life

What Families Ask Us

Clear answers to the questions we hear most about group therapy.

Our groups are for neurodivergent children who want to build social skills and connection in a supportive setting. We match by age, interests, and goals so that each group feels safe and relevant.

We keep groups small—typically a few children—so everyone gets attention and no one feels lost. Exact size depends on the group's focus and the children in it.

Sessions include a mix of activities: games, conversation, creative or collaborative tasks, and free play. Our therapists guide the flow, teach social skills in the moment, and make sure everyone is included.

Usually parents drop off and return at the end. We can discuss whether staying nearby or joining for part of a session is better for your child, especially at the start.

Get in touch and we'll tell you about current groups, timing, and fees. We can also add you to a waitlist if no suitable group is running yet.
